out of the usual problem

First off I haven't been on in a good while so what's going on everybody? Here's the problem. Both front brake discs have been warped and wobble when i brake, its even worse the faster I'm going but I have ignored it for some time. Recently I changed my brake pads with a buddy mechanic on all four wheels. Back ones were completely toasted even metal was gone somewhat. So brand new pads on all fours. About a week later I started hearing this "tap" noise coming from front left wheel and it goes with my wheel speed so faster as I'm traveling faster so on so forth. Funny thing is it completely vanishes when I hit the brakes. Everytime. Sometimes the noise isn't even there and that's usually before the car has warmed up which is even stranger. Took wheel off today, everything looks fine, no loose bolts no nothing. I plan on taking the discs off and up to o'reilly to have them re-surface them but not sure what that may do. Does anyone have any ideas or input? It would go a long way if so

I'll do either one of those here in next few days. Any ideas out there that pop into anyone's head though?

Could be a warped rotor - as the high spot hits the pad, the pads hits against a part of the caliper. Did he get the retainer spring clips fully engaged?

Are you saying your pads were so worn out that you were wearing out the steel backing plates, but you just kept the gouged rotors?

well the back pads were the ones that were over-gone. the front rotors are the ones that are warped. now the front pads were just about gone however. still havent done the discs yet but i will keep you guys updated. also i am noticing that the tap is not there until i have driven a lil or basically by the time the motor has warmed up. weird huh?

I wonder what driving with a set of warped rotors for a prolonged period may do to the wheel bearings.

well still haven't gotten around to doing anything lol. yeah like i said the tap noise only is noticeable when the car has been driven a lil bit, around the time the motor has warmed up actually. and it completely vanishes once even a tiny bit of brake pressure is applied. very strange. ill get to it soon i promise

A twelve year old car with pulsing brakes should always include new rotors. They are only a few dollars more than the cost of resurfacing.

okay so i swapped the rotors and everything is back to normal! no more tap noise, no more wobble when braking, no more slightly slipping when its wet outside! i was expecting the tap to be something else like something caliper related but it was the rotors all along, after all i did drive it everyday with them warped for almost a year lmao. just letting you guys know how it ended up
