It's a distributor. It' costs around $300 new. I don't know about labor it varies. I got mine replaced for $136 on labor.

Re: optispark????

What year is your car (adding a "signature" with basic info about your car is a good idea)? The unvented 93/94 distributor is about $325. The vented 95-97 version is closer to $230.

Re: optispark????

optis suck but yes a very important...gm engineers were stupid and put it behind the damn water pump...least on my 97, im guessing the same for all LT1s. yeah got mine done for about 60 or so...good friends a mechanic so that probably doesnt help much but i think generally bout $300-$400 depending on where you go

Re: optispark????

Plan on spending any where from 500 to 700, whether you need the cap and rotor , and have someone do it for you. I suggest that you seal it up nice and good with cilicone if its a 93,94 style.

Re: optispark????

The opti is more than a distributor, it also has an optical sensor system (hence the nickname opti) that keeps track of cam position (feed to the PCM).
