oil pressure and vent air problems in traffic jams

Oil pressure goes to zero after I'm in a traffic jam for a few minutes. I have to press on the accelerator a bit to keep the psi up and keep the car from dying. Once I get going, the oil pressure is fine, even at stoplights.

Also, while in this same traffic jam the vent air is hot while the weather outside is mild or cool. Then, when I get going it is cool. I understand why it is getting cool but why does the vent air get hot?

Why, why, why?

Thanks

I'm having that exact same problem right now with my 95 trans am. It's the oil pressure sending unit. part is $25 it's on the back of the intake by the steering shaft. It's a pain in the *** to get to.

yep, exactally the same thing just different way of explaining the part. This is located on the top rear of your engine if it is the same as my 96. shbox.com had more info and pictures on this as well.

I had the same problem, read my thread if you are interested... Oil Problems

Thanks. And I read your thread. I didn't see any results....was the sending unit your problem? I thought I read that you had already replaced the sending unit to no avail.

Yeah I changed my sending unit and that didn't help. I just waiting for a A-pillar attachment to hold my mechanical gauge for my car. The feed back I got from many people and other forums is that the wiring is either messed or the gauge. Some say bearings in engine but when I put a gauge on the car, the psi read normal. This had been ongoing for a year and a half now.

My advice, gauge the engine, check the wiring and if the pressure is okay get a new oil sending unit/sensor or an mechanical gauge in your car.
