Oil Level Sensor Issue

I just replaced the Oil level sensor in my 95 Z with a fresh oil change. Now when I start my car the low oil lights up and stays on. If I shut the car off and restart it, the light will go off. Anyone had this issue. Thanks

Re: Oil Level Sensor Issue

Try removing the connector to the sensor and jumper the wires together. If the light stays off, the wiring is ok. If it still acts up when you plug it back in, then I would say the new sensor is not working correctly.

The light goes off when you shut it off and restart, because the computer needs a certain amount of time after key off to assess the oil level due to drain back. When you start the engine back up before the timer has elapsed, it will ignore any perceived low oil indication and there will be no light.
