Ac Delete Pulley Install

My A/C Compressor has done a fantastic job of being completely locked up and I can't start my car any more because the belt will go no where and when it does start, it's burt belt city. Im wondering how difficult it is to install the A/C Delete Pulley, I just got done replacing my starter to only learn that my ac clutch failed and that was causing my car not to start. Oh well, at least I dont have to worry about a starter going out any time soon.

a/c compressor

Yes, it is a bastard getting the a/c compressor out. Mine locked up two years ago and I replaced it which was a mistake. I finished my first year of grad school two weeks ago and started on a cam and heads swap last Tuesday. I hadn't planned on doing anything else, but now that I have the a/c stuff out, the crap is not going back in. Our engines are tight enough in there to begin with. a/c delete pulley is $35 on gmpartsdirect.com.

It's not that hard at all, just that back bolt on the compressor will be a pain. But once you have it out the pulley will slap right in there. Also you will like how easy the plug access will be.

ok I am planning on taking out the A/C comp. (have the pulley here) but from the bottom I see many lines running under the comp. (AIR, A/C, steering)

what ones do I need to remove to get the comp. out, it doesnt look like it will be easy to manuever it outta place

whoever has done it please offer up some info

thanks

I didnt actually think it was that hard to remove the compressor when I installed my A/C delete pulley. I had it out and the pulley installed in about an hour. That back bolt on the compressor was a little tricky to get to.

I did my install in about 1 hour. The hardest part was getting the condenser out of the tight area it is in after I had already disconected it.

Related question...isn't the AC switched on when you flip over to "defog"? Does defog even work without the AC?

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about taking mine out since the engine is coming out anyways...I just don't want the windows fogging up if I get caught in the rain. If defog works just as well without the AC, then I'll pull it.
