odd jet hot long tube question

I've had my long tubes installed for about 100 miles worth of driving now and my felpro gaskets are leaking and I think I know why, I just wanted to verify this with other jet hot LT owners.

When I got my long tubes in the mail, I noticed that they were'nt D-port matched, they were O ended. Now what I wanted to verify is if any other jet hot LT owners got D port or O port headers. I'm very happy with felpro's gaskets and it's not their fault they are leaking, it's because I've got D-pot heads, D-port gaskets, and O-port headers. But the headers fit and are installed. WTF? The exhaust leak is causing all sorts of power loss from a dead stop run. I don't notice the power loss at WOT. I know I should have asked this WAY before I installed the headers, but I just assumed this was normal. TIA.

Re: odd jet hot long tube question

mine a o also, dont know if the have a D port. i do have a small leak also, but its coused from the bolts backing out. that actually reminds me, i need to check them today. their is a gasket made for ported small blocks, its a little thicker then normal to account for larger ports. i cant remember to part number, but they are designed for trouble headers to prevent leaks. most part stores should have an idea of what you talking about.

Re: odd jet hot long tube question

does anyone know where to get the gaskets that viperkiller is referring to? I want to stick with felpro, I just need the O port gaskets that will fit with the LT1.

Re: odd jet hot long tube question

Mine are D ports. I recommend earl's ultra seal gaskets. Solved all my leak problems. Summit carries them. http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...29DA3B&x=0&y=0

Best LT1 gasket made.

Re: odd jet hot long tube question

huh. so your jet hot long tubes are D-ported? like I said above, my jet hots are O-ported and I know all LT1's are D-port heads. I don't get why they sent me O ported headers when they probably knew full well that they would leak when using the normal or proper gaskets. Please confirm that your headers are either D or O ported so I can buy these gaskets you sent me a link to. thanks.

p.s. we have almost exactly the same mods, that's cool.

Re: odd jet hot long tube question

I ran a set of the soft copper ones on mine, and had no problems. It is very important to tighten them often during the first couple heat/cool cycles. Then every time you change the oil just get a wrench on them and snug em

My jet-hot long tubes are D shaped....I used felpro#1406 if memory serves.....which are D shaped as well.

my slp's are O port. They don't leak. I'm running Mr.gasket Ultra seals.
