Question normal for lights to dim during wot?

Noticed the other night when I was flooring it on the highway late at night that my lights go dim and my battery gauge moved right to where the red area begins. The lights and gauge go back to normal after but I was wondering if I was killing my battery.

Sounds like the serpentine belt is slipping.

I've seen the Opti blamed for a lot of problems, but suggesting it causes the lights to dim at WOT is a bit out in left field.

I need to replace my belts anyways...so will see if that fixes the problem. Sold the car with the optispark this is happening with my 2001. Anything wrong with getting the stock belts again or is there a better alternative.

The Goodyear GatorBack gets good reviews.

I replaced both belts with new ones and I am still having the lights for my gauges going dim and the gauge for battery voltage dropping during WOT. Is this something to worry about?

Did you check the belt tensioner for adequate tension?

You do not want the system voltage to drop at WOT. Low voltage reduces the flow capacity of the fuel pump.

I'll check the belt tensioner and see if it's tight or not. I guess theres no way to adjust them and I have to buy a new one?
