New vett cut out.

Anyone know how the cut out works on the new vette? I understand it is located after the cats and before the muffler. In addition to the increase in noise, I wonder if it actually increases hp by reducing back pressure and if it would work on, eg. 97 LT1 with dual cats and dual tips.

I understand it opens when you get on it, rather than by a switch.

Just curious if it would be worth pursuing.

Thanks

I think it has a vacuum actuator that is triggered electronically via the PCM. A member on a different forum has one, and that is the way he explained it.

There was a whole discussion about this on another forum on this board. People were stating, "Pulling a fuse will make your car louder!!" I guess that you pull a fuse in the fuse block and it opens the cutout hence making the car louder. I'm not sure of the exact specifics as I just briefly glanced it, but it is still cool technology nonetheless.

Re: New vett cut out.

So basically, some corvettes have an electronic cutout that opens at higher rpms. Dang, i thought i invented that idea.

Hey there: Clinton Township eh? Is that near DeWitt? I was born and raised in DeWitt. Parents used to own grocery store there (Cook's General Store) a long, long time ago.
