New Spec Billet Flywheel + New Starter = Grinding on disenguagement?
Hi guys, i put a spec billet flywheel in the LT1/T56 wagon and my old starter would grind on disenguagement. I tried shimming it in incriments of .020 until it sounded like it wasnt enguaging correctly anymore...so i figured id just try my luck with a new starter
so I put in a new LT4 starter last night with no shims, sounds perfect when it enguages...but after the motor starts it still grinds for a second. Although if i just crank the starter for a split second and release it before the engine fires, its fine, no noise.
Ive never been in a car where you had to antisipate how long the starter will take to start the motor and disenguage it before the motor fires...has anyone else had this problem? Im guessing the spec flywheel is "speced" a bit different then stock or something. Flywheel teeth all look perfect BTW...
Thanks for any input
