ok.... and what transmission do you have now - M6 or A4? What rear axle ratio do you have now? Is it a 3-channel (ABS only) or 4-channel (ABS + TCS)?

It would help if you added a "signature" with info about your car, so people could answer your question without asking you a whole bunch more.

You cannot make your car any faster than it already is with junkyard parts unless you gain some first hand knowledge and do some research on your own. This is not a plastic model that you just glue together!

Unless your father just bought a heads/cam LS1 car or one with headers from an insurance company, he's got almost nothing you need.

If he has a 01-02 F body, they have the better LS6 intake. That would be a good find.

I'd say there is a pretty good chance you'll find a TH-400 and a 12-bolt or 9" around there that you could make work, but you're not going to find anything that you could just swap out without doing some pretty major modification or rebuilding... And we're not even sure what your goals are for this car, so it's really hard to make suggestions on what will work and what will not.

since you have the 98....any 01-02 ls1 fbody would have the ls6 intake manifold

if you have an auto transmission, it would be possible to upgrade the rear gears.
some autos came with 2.73 gears, others with 3.23...which would be an upgrade
the manuals came with 3.42 gears wich would also be an upgrade. but as stated you need to confirm which style (3 or 4 channel) you have.

an 01-03 corvette ZO6 would be a GREAT upgrade as far as engine parts: heads, cam, intake

the 5.3L chevy trucks have heads that would swap, you'd increase your compression. but your best bet is to use them as cores for porting. same goes for the 6L versions.

if you're an auto with 2.73 gears you have the steel driveshaft. you could pick up a few hp at the wheels by swapping to an aluminum one off of a auto-3.23 equipped or manual equipped car.
