Mystery oil leak- Where from???
Mystery oil leak- Where from???
I thought I had blown a PS line at my last autocross as the car suddenly became almost impossible to steer during a run and when I returned to the pits oil was dripping off the front of the engine, sway bar, etc. Put it on the trailer and came home.
It is not PS fluid that is leaking. There is no smell to it, reservior is still full. It is a light clear oil. Does not appear to be motor oil (Mobil 1 in the motor now). Leakage splatter appears to be limited to the passenger side area around the PS pump, AC compressor and idler pulley.
AC system is still under pressure, but I have not run the compressor. Is there other oil in the AC compressor that could have leaked out onto the accessory belt causing it to slip? Belt never squealed like when wet, and no smoke or anything. The manual talks about PAG oil that must be checked / added if compressor is serviced. Is this what is leaking?

Re: Mystery oil leak- Where from???
Well, mine doesn't appear to be too slow.
I have been planning to remove the compressor (used as a track car much more than street these days), I already have the AC delete pulley and belt. Looks like that mod just moved up the list.
Thanks for the help.
