Thumbs down My Temp.

Usually when I drive my car the engine runs at just over the 1/4 mark on the temp guage. When I was driving down the highway I noticed it was a little higher than normal. Then, when I got onto a side-street with traffic it climed all the way up to the 3/4 mark and would not go back down. The second fan was on, so I am wondering what could have caused this.

A couple things that come to mind are: my cat is in need of replacement, it rattles and will be replaced soon, I might need to flush my radiator but I did that recently and my car does have 115,000 miles on it so it could be the water pump.

Any thoughts on these ideas of some new ones would be great. Thanks a lot.

Cool. Both are relatively easy to fix and inexpensive.

thanks for the reply

Another quick question, why do people switch over to electric waterpumps? Just in case I have to replace my waterpump.

electric waterpumps run off of the bat and not driven by a belt so it frees up some hp.. but electric waterpumps are a bit pricey and only live for so long...

electric pumps can free 6-10 hp on a standard fbody

and the two common brands, CSI and mezerie are under $200 for the LT1

old 3rd gen engines and the ls1 are quite a bit more $$

6-10 hp eh, well then if I do need to replace my waterpump I will get an electric on for sure.

About how much does a regular water pump cost?

Thanks for the help.
