Is my Rear going to fall off?

Seriously. I just took off from a red light around a curve and it felt like the car slipped on the rear axle or something.. I felt it slide for a fraction of a second then felt like it hit a curb. But, no curb around, and the tires didnt break loose.

So is my rear end going to fall off the car?

Look under and see if anything looks out of wack. Have someone push the car side to side and you look under the car. Its kind of hard to figure out what is wrong.

Did you floor it at the light or were you taking a turn too fast? Maybe you got some wheelhop? Were there any drivability issues after that?

everything LOOKS ok. I took off from the light, but didnt floor it. I took the curve at about 20-25mph. It felt like the car was sliding without the tires losing traction. Does that make any sense? The car drove just fine the rest of the way home, about 5 miles.

I don't know, rwd cars can be touchy, especially if you push them a little too hard around a corner or too much throttle action off the line. If you broke a suspension/chassis component out back, I'm guessing you would have noticed it the rest of the way home.

smooth pavement. it felt like the car slid across the rear axle and when it hit the end it came to a dead stop.

Don't worry if it does -- can always rig it like my exhaust

If I'm not mistaken it's the panhard rod that is responsible for keeping the rear end centered under the car. Check your panhard rod and upper panhard rod brace and the mounts, maybe you lost a bolt??

i had the same thing happen to me in my truck, if my memory is correct the shocks and springs hold the rearend in the car and the panhard bar keeps the rearend centered but hears a thought to consider my theory on my truck is that some thing in the rearend broke internaly not nessesarily an axle cause a broken axle will leave the vehicle (seen it happen at the dirt track alot) but maybe something in the center section, wheel hop is also a possibility
