My alarm goes off after locking the SS, help!!!

If I lock the 97 SS and walk away from it, the alalrm goes off after about 20 seconds. It doesn't matter if I lock it by the fob or lock with the power button on the door panel then shut the door. My fob may be running out of battery power but I'm not sure why that would matter. When I hit the larm button on the fob it goes off and stays off.

Re: My alarm goes off after locking the SS, help!!!

Mine did the same thing, but it did it right after I changed my brakes and rotors for some reason, so I just got a new alarm. But, when they tried to install a new alarm the factory alarm brain couldn't be removed because it was part of the factory computer or something, was the explaination I got so I have both keypads on my keychain and I just keep my factory alarm unarmed and arm my aftermarket alarm. Kind of ghetto huh? Thank god I have a garage.

Re: My alarm goes off after locking the SS, help!!!

happens to me 2, i have a 98 SS. I didnt "fix" it but i just disconnected the shock sensor in the rear. Now i dont have to wait until my alarm goes off to lock my car. This is a common complaint but no one really has an answer for it. Could be the alarm is dieing or that you need a new key fob battery or your battery is going dead.
