OBDII Cable!

I bought a OBDII cable that connects from car to laptop, off ebay for like 15 bucks. It hooks up to both but i can't find a program that will work. I have the programs but none of them connect, or can find the car through the cable. I really want to get Digimozo to work, so if anyone has this, let me know.

Re: OBDII Cable!

I have OBD II LT1 Edit programming and Autotap scanning software.
Both have modules that connect to the RS 232 side of the OBD II cable on one side and a regular comm cable that goes to the laptop on the other side.
I don't know about other software that will work with just a cable but maybe someone can chime in.

Re: OBDII Cable!

Do you have an OBDI in the car or OBDII? If you have an OBDII, you won't be able to do much with it.

Either way, it would help if you listed the link with the auction of the cable.

Re: OBDII Cable!

I found out that i need a ElmScan interface tool. With every cable you need this thing to connect the laptop to the car so that they are on the same levels i suppose. BUT, does anyone know of a way to bypass this? Because the ElmScan is like 79 bucks to 99 bucks!

Re: OBDII Cable!

The interface is an essential part of how it works.
I'm afraid you'll have to buy the module like the ad said if you want to make use of this cable.

Re: OBDII Cable!

LT1 Edit for OBDII is 550.00 so if you have something that will work for 99.00 plus the cable you got then you're way ahead.

Re: OBDII Cable!

Well you can't edit things like lt1 edit, but you are able to scan and clear codes, get your 1/4 eta, estimated dyno, and tones of scanning things. I think i am going to go with this.
