No, you either have to have it fitted, or use a stock SBC pick up.

you got to use 3/4" pick up, it is special order item in Autozone, ~$9
Stock 93-95 had 5/8" pick up, not sure about 96-97

Ok I knew about the different pickup tube diameter size but the part the tube goes in can be unbolted from the pump, right?
So thats my question can you unbolt the stock piece w/pickup tube attached and just put it on the Melling pump? Or are the two pumps (stock vs. Melling) actually machined different to where that piece that unbolts is not compatable. Thanks.

Yes, it can be unbolted, and besides a spring there is nothing mechanical in that piece. If you asked me this question 1.5 month ago, I could have tested it for you .

So it can be done huh.......I have the gm white spring also so next question is how will the pump perform.
A. Pump will perform at the stock level (melling pump w/stock pickup and gm spring)

B. Pump will perform above stock level (melling pump w/stock pickup and gm spring)

C. Pump will perform below stock level (melling pump w/stock pickup and gm spring)

The bottom piece of the pump is prone to wear from the gears, though.

Pickups of the same inlet diameter should have no effect on performance, IMO. The white spring should increase the pressure a little. That and the clearance on your bearings will determine what kind of pressure you will see.
