The normal way is to hook into the relay wires, fans don't turn on with the key in the off or acc positions.

You have to tap directly into the fan wires to do that.

depends where you connect the power source... if you wire it to a constant power source, the fans will stay on without the eng. Wire it to an accessory source that shuts off with the car and it wont.

If you tap into the green and blue relay wires for your fan switch, you are using a ground to turn the fans on. Therefore choice of power source has nothing to do with it.

There are several different methods to wire up a fan switch. It depends on which one you use as to whether you can turn them on any time you want.

As simple as it gets:

Car is off:

Bat to switch to fan wires = on
Relay wires to switch to ground = off

I don't like the direct power source way though. You need a heavy duty switch and a minimum of 14 gauge wire to avoid burning stuff. I tried it for a while till I noticed some smoke coming up from the dash

the SLP fan switch will alow you to run the fans with the car off...

on low you can barely even hear it....and is easily left on

and it will drain the battery quick...beleive me

but it's nice to get the car cool at the track

I acknowledge the fact that youre never wrong, but I tested this from the interior before I made the connections by holding it to the cigarrette lighter power source [with just my fingers] and then the accessory power source... and thats how it worked for me. One stayed on, one didnt.

Yeah I don't know if I'm the best guy to take advice from, my fans never seem to work right anyways... they do however still turn on by command from the pcm, thanks to a pesky ses light that came out of nowhere and then disappeared again. Just relating my experiences.

Do you mean the actual fans or just the LEDs? The power source is only for the LEDs and does nothing to turn the fans on if you are using something like this.

I wouldn't even say I am never wrong.

u must be just talking about the LEDs. i have the LED setup and i only had to tap into the power for the LEDs. in the wiring system where you tap into the blue and green wires from the pcm the fans can only be on when the car is on or the key is turned all the way forward to KOEO (Key On Engine Off) position. the LEDs however will stay on constantly when the car is oof because they are hooked up to a constant power source.
