Lucas Oil Stablizer

Does anyone add Lucas Oil Stablizer to their oil. Anyone have any horror stories about oil additives. I know Lucas is used in alot of Drag Races but is it worth it?

Many will tell you any oil additives are BAD. I use 'em where warranted. 3 oz of AutoRX with every LT1 oil change. I use Lucas in my '96 454 Suburban. 1 qt with every oil change. The truck has 284,000 miles on it and I have never opened it up. I do an oil sample every third oil change and there has never been any appreciable metal show up in the sample. I also run straight 30w oil in it since day one. What can I say, your mileage may vary.

From experience, I used it (Lucas) once,,, on cold starts 40 to 50 degrees, a lifter would tick for a few seconds,,, changed oil & added no Lucas start up tick went away, also after when head gasket blew globs of what looked like fat stuck under valve covers????

Re: Lucas Oil Stablizer

My daily driver gets just regular oil. My race car gets frequent oil changes and Lucas. My race car is also more likely to have an oil starvation problem at 7000+ rpm or when slowing down at the end of the track when all the oil goes to the front of the pan so that's when the lucas helps the most.

There are terrible additives on the market (ie: teflon junk) Teflon plugs up oil galleries and gets trapped by the filter. No additive can restore dried out valve or rear main seals. Lucas isn't an additive, it's considered a stabalizer. It works differently. If Lucas was bad stuff, racers wouldn't use it. Race parts are too expensive to replace.

Yup! No need to add anything to your oil. These companies spend millions in r&d to come up with their formulas.

Besides, i like to think that if there was an additive to make their oils better, that the companies (Mobile, Penzoil, etc) would be selling it themselves to make the extra money. Why let Lucas or whoever make that money?
