LTs & 3" True Duals Without Cats

I know a guy that does custom exhaust jobs for only 200 bucks and im thinking about going to him and getting that set-up. However will this waste a lot of gas? and how loud will this be?

gas shouldn't change...could actually get better. i picked up a consistent 1mpg in mileage when i put on a catback and ran an open cutout..compared to stock on my 96 LT1.

loud will depend on the setup. if it dumps at the axle it will probably drone a bit more just due to the reverberation between the road and the car. but the loudness will depend on the mufflers used. some 24" sweet thunders should tone it down well.

my 3" Xpipe, no cats, no mufflers, behind a 400rwhp cammed LS1 is ....LOUD

yea.. im think im gonna make the exhaust full length.. and i dont mind it being too loud.. around here the cops dont care about how loud ur exhaust is.. but im wondering abouthing something else.. hooker's catbacks r my favorite sounding but in my opinion they are too quiet.. if i just use hooker mufflers with the long tubes and 3 inch x-pipe will i get the same hooker sound without it being too quiet? thanks

Its just too loud IMO. Sounds amazing but I use my Camaro as a daily driver as much as possible and dumps get annoying. I'll never go back to single exhaust though. I suggest to take it over the axle and out the back.

Re: LTs & 3" True Duals Without Cats

I have a pair of 3"in/3"out hooker aerochamber mufflers on my car. They are all the way at the back of the car and are pretty loud.

Be prepaired for a lot of midification. The panhard bar and brace need to be moved, and in order to fit the mufflers I had to cut and modify the bottom pan of the trunk. I have about $350 in materials and did all the labor myself.

I started out with blullets on the system and they were way to loud, even exiting out the back. The i decided to make room for the real mufflers. Its not supper loud, but it probably compairs to a loud mouth loudness wise. Sound wise its something totally different that I I havent heard before. Really really deep at idle.

Here is my post from when I made them. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428462

there is pics through out.

I absolutely love the sound of my car.

It may cause some vibrations in the car. My ebrake handle started to make an annoying vibration....but Im gonna figure out a way to stop that.

teke...you dont run any mufflers!!!!!!!!!! we have basicall the same exact exhaust set up, except I run 18" bullets
you must be crazy....I already worry about cops hearing my car every time I drive it....and when at WOT it sounds like a nascar or something....and I can easily set off car alarms

How loud is your car?....I can only imagine
