Re: Low Coolant Sensor???

Mine went out on me. Not hard to replace. Just need to drain the coolant to the level of the sensor, pull it out, replace, fill coolant back up.

Re: Low Coolant Sensor???

Just disconnect it, tie it off and the light won't come on. My car doesn't even have one.

Always verify that your radiator is full before you assume that your sensor is bad. The sensor is a common failure, but coolant leaks are common too.

i just watched a few of your videos. I was 16 when i got my 1st z28 too, trust me, you might want to not rag on it as much as you do. you're asking for problems, that car will not last forever with the bull**** you put it through, especially with 100K+ on it, things are going to start breaking before you know it and you will wish that you had not mistreated it like you've been doing in those vids. just my .02.

What do you mean, "tie it off?" Just connect the wires together and tape them up? Or just un plug it?

Yup, this sensor is strictly for low coolant light. No SES Light or any other problems will arise from unplugging it. They are famous for going bad.. Mine has been unplugged for 3 years now...

Make sure to check your coolant Level on a regular basis though.

If you're loosing fluid out the overflow tank, you need to find out why. On a hot day the car while need to use the overflow tank; if it's loosing fluid you'll end up with a low radiator condition.

Re: Low Coolant Sensor???

IIRC when the engine gets hot it sucks coolant out of the overfow tank and when it cools off it gets back in. If you put extra in it will boil out the resivour tank. I'd go ahead and verify your tstat is working correctly and replace the radiator cap. (it's like $10 at GM)

Got this backwards, when the engine gets hot the pressure in the engine coolant system rises causing overflow to route to the reservoir tank. As the engine cools the system sucks the fluid out of the reservoir back to the radiator. Just look at the coolant dipstick, the hot mark is higher than the cold mark.
