Lost the chip in my 1997 Z28..... but it works fine

Hey Guys,
  1. . I recently picked up a used BCM from a local Junkyard. My old one had issues and whatnot. I knew I had a 1 in 15 chance of having one with the right resistance... I was beyond happy to find out that my decision paid off. Here's the vexing quandary I have: I lost the chip in my key, I tried and never had luck finding it, but somehow my car still starts and drives perfectly fine. I am more than 100% positive that I'm the only person to take it apart and mess with any components I see no signs of a bypass either. How is this possible? The security light has been solid for about 3 years now and I've had no luck trying to program a new or used key fob because of it. I'm happy it doesn't leave me stranded, but I lose sleep over such things. Any and all responses are appreciated. Thanks in advance

You checked the wires on the steering column?

Then there's also the ability to bypass the theft deterrent relay simply by unplugging it and connecting the yellow and purple wires together, and adding a 50Hz signal generator to provide the fuel enable signal to the PCM.
