Locks Freezing.

Is there anything I should put in my locks to stop them from freezing? Mainly my driverside door lock freezes where I cant turn it w/ my key and the power lock from the passdoor cant unlock it, I have to go push the plastic thing myself. This only happens when it get cold like 20 degrees but its a pain. I put wd-40 in once and it worked for a little while but after a week it stopped.

Re: Locks Freezing.

I've heard that spraying a graphite based lubricating spray can help prevent freezing and wearing of the door locks.

Re: Locks Freezing.

graphite spray is a good lubricant, and by nature it wont freeze because it is solid powdered graphite, but it dont think it will protect very much from freezing,
the water in there is freezeing
you'r local autoparts store usually has a little can of lock de-icer
its perfect to fit in the keyhole and will melt away any water
if u cant find lock de-icer specifically
then get any spray de-icer for your windshield and that will work, just a little harder to aim

Ya but those de-icers are for after it ices up, is there anything to prevent it in the first place? I have some white lubricating grease spray that I could try inside the locks.
