Locking Gas caps?!!!
Locking Gas caps?!!!
I can't find one anywhere!!!! I know, should be a pretty standard thing, but it aint!!
Okay, I search the board and got some interesting ideas. One person said that a "late model" Monte Carlo locking cap from GM would work. Well it doesn't I just when to the dealer. I checked all over the place here, no one makes them, and nothing fits it for my 98! Anyone have any ideas? You figure that GM would make something for it.
Has anyone had this problem??

I had a 98 V6 Camaro, same gas tank and cap as the Z28. I bought a 1999 Camaro stant gas cap and shaved of the U shape part leaving the line that goes across the top of it. It's hard to explain without looking at one but by doing that the gas cap works just like it should. It locks and passes smog.
There's two little shapes sticking out of the side of the stant gas cap that are used to screw into the neck of the gas tank. The two shapes look like a U with a diagonol line going across the top. I cut and sanded off the U shaped part leaving the diagonol line.
I remember reading there was some sort of mix up with the gas tanks in 98 making them kind of a oddball.

Yeah I know what you are talking about. Mine has a triangle, and the locking cap has a "D" shape. I might actually buy one and try it.
Mixed up gas tanks huh? Wonderful. 98's are the only ones?
