LOL...This was fun...I used shoebox's tips...It took about 4 hours to do both...They move fast now....My advice is drill big holes and order direct GM replacements...ONLY....I also replaced my struts on the rear hatch...I took one off with a t-47 and the hatch smacked me in the head...My bad...I was expecting that much difference... I thought my struts were wasted....Anyways...All is good in lt1 land again....Went out and had fun shortly after to reward the car
I need to change my window motor on my drivers side, it's getting pretty bad. I don't see the point of GM Window Motors, I bet those things cost a fortune. I've never heard of anyone having problems with the cheap Ebay ones.
How big of holes are you talking about, Shoebox's site went over the exact locations very accurately so I was able to nail the spots pretty dead on. I bought the window motors from a parts store that were cheaper then the GM motors and carry a lifetime warranty.
Last summer my driver side window fell completely off inside the door. I took it apart, riveted the motor back on and it works fine. I think the motor was replaced recently. It was all new and there was fresh grease everywhere.
My passenger door is next. The window doesn't even go up all the way and it's really slow.

I actually found the motors on ebay for a buy it now of $99.99...I figure I got 80,000 miles on the orginals so, try it again...I put the ebay ones in my old 1999 SS they lasted 8 months or so..not bad for $20 shipped to your door I guess
I just go with autozone ones as they have the lifetime warranty. I've done both of my motors and the drivers side replacement lasted 4 years on a daily driver. When it went out I just took it into autozone and a few minutes later I walked back out with my new motor. They're only $50 a piece so for $100 you can have working windows for the life of your car.
My motors are Chinese, e-Bay imports with lifetime warranty, blah blah blah. Got them both for $40-some-odd bucks, shipped to my door. I would venture to say the GM ones, Auto Zone's, etc. are ALL made in China along with the ones you find on e-Bay but that's just an opinion and a different thread for another time.
