Interior sail panel

I know this is a stupid question but I can not for the life of me get the stupid coat hangers to come free so I can get the interior sail panels out of the car to install the cage. I did a search and thought I was doing everything correctly, I have the center piece poped out about 1/4 inch and tried to puch on the hook itself but it still wont let go. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Interior sail panel

everything I read says that the center piece only comes part of the way out and then your supposed to push on the hook to release it. So the center is supposed to come all the way out

Re: Interior sail panel

Pull the center piece as far out as you need to (all the way out maybe) and then pull the hook out. It all goes back together, so don't worry about breaking either one of those pieces.

It helps to push the hook in while you pull the center out. It comes out easiest if you can get the center all the way out.

Yeah pull the center piece all the way out. I used a flat head screwdriver.
