Installing a Fuel Pressure Gauge

In the begining stage of installing a autometer fuel pressure gauge in my 94 z28..Is the schrader valve a safe place to install it?Anyone know the part # of the fitting I need to make this work?

The schrader valve will work fine, just remove the actual valve assembly. I would recommend mounting the sender to the body and connecting it to the valve with a piece of braided fuel line though. The gauge instructions should have the adapter PN.

Re: Installing a Fuel Pressure Gauge

Are you installing a mechanical gauge, or the pressure sending unit for an electronic gauge?

Get an NOS #17585 -4AN 90-deg swivel fitting. Remove the core fro the Schrader valve. Screw the NOS fitting on, aiming in the correct direction. Do NOT over-tighten it, the Schrader connection is only swaged on the line, and will snap right off.

Get a short -4AN braided SS hose, with a -4AN female on one end, and 1/8" NPT male on the other. Use a 1/8" NPT coupling to connect the hose to the gauge.

Hopefully, you are installing this under the hood if its a mechanical gauge. It can NOT and should NOT be mounted in the passenger compartment.

Re: Installing a Fuel Pressure Gauge

i know this is a really old thread but I found it by a google search.

I recently bought some cyberdyne gauges (trans temp, fuel pressure, oil temp, oil pressure) and the oil pressure and fuel pressure sending units look identical.

Cyberdyne Gauges SENSS4E - Cyberdyne Gauges Gauge Sending Units - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I already removed the internals of the schraeder valve and now I'm stuck with what to do.

I called summit and they said "according to autometer, I have to buy an adapter with a hard line" and that costs over $40 that seems a little crazy to me, but idk

Re: Installing a Fuel Pressure Gauge

What specific vehicle are you installing the gauge in? Is this a carb application? The fuel pressure sending unit is only 15psi, so its not suitable for a high pressure fuel injection application. From the "application" tab in the link you posted:

Universal Yes
Gauge Type (application) Fuel pressure
Maximum Gauge Face Reading 15 psi
Generally, it's a good idea to add a "Signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans, and any major mods. The Signature is automatically appended to all your posts. That way people will have enough into to help you.
