Smile Ignition problems

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I have a 1991 RS Camaro. Yesterday I was out driving and stopped to get some oil and when I went out to start me cay the key would just turn in the inigition and nothing would happen, no lights nothing but the open door buzzer. I believe it has something to do with the security key system that is in that car but I am not sure. I tried a different key but no change. I pulled the steering wheel to see if I could find any broken parts but there was not any. The key just turns but there is no pressure against it. What do you think?

I think you posted this in the wrong forum.

I will move it over to the right one, which is General F-Body Tech.

Good luck! It sounds like a spring in the column broke or is out of place, but I wouldn't know for sure.
