So i go to take my key outa my ignition today, and it wont come out, lock cylander sems loose. Now my computer was just changed in my car, i dont know if that means anything. Also my car is a 95, and my computer, engine ad trans are a 94. So what lock cylander and switch would i need. Also, Is it posible for me to change the cyalnder myself, even with the vats system?

Re: ignition lock cylander?

its is just basic set of instructions but you will need a torque bit set allong with a steering wheel puller, and a lock ring compresor some basic hand tools needle nose plyers, a good set of picks (that are all diffenent angles at the tips), lock ring plyers (a good set makes a difference), some thin but stiff wire to snake the new wire for the vat system down the colum. there will be a plastic wire retiner that holds all the wires in at one spot.

-If your a beginer proubley best to un do the ground cable on the batt
-Remove the Air bag 4 torque's bits un plug the air bag and horn wires
-remove the but for the steering wheel then install the steering wheel puller
-once the wheel is off then you have a lock ring you have to remove that holds the clock spring down make shure that nothing spins because i could set off your air bags once everything is put back together.
-Keep in mind anything yellow is air bag related!!!
-under the clock spring, there will be a coil spring and a thin washer
-once all that is done its time to un do the lock ring with the compresor a different assortiment of picks maybe a small scredriver to get the ring to come out of its little valley or grove once that is done you can remove that metal plate to revial the horn conectect pad maybe another coil spring
-then with a small scredriver remove the horn conect metal tabs you will see them there are two copper tabs that stick up and touch the horn conect pad(be carfull this may brake)
-once that is done remove the torque bit that holds the ing. cylinder in turn the ing. to on but not cranking and slide the old cylinder out.

A few tips of the trade when removing the old cylinger attach that wire a explained above to the vat wire and pull through the colume to that you can just pull the new wire through. and you will also need to remove the knee bolster and and under dash trim if its still there

this a pruty hard job there is a few things that could go rong and rune your whole day with rods in the colume If you dont do much work like this then i would tack it to somone that does

hope this helps Kyle
