Ignition Coils?
Re: Ignition Coils?
I wanted the MSD pro Billet Ignition but they're apparently backordered until June or July according to MSD.
My optispark went bad ( I think ) and would rather pay the difference for an MSD but can't wait.Currently Imobile.

Re: Ignition Coils?
The MSD Opti is not "back ordered"..... as of yet, it has not been made available for sale. It took them about a year to produce the cap and rotor kit, to actually sell one to the public... who knows when they will actually have the full Opti ready???????
Re: Ignition Coils?
Yes, its in their catalog.... its been in the online catalog for several months. When you get the page for the item, it shows the estimated ship date. Every week or two, they move the ship date a week or two later.
Current forecast is:
83811 - vented: 5/13/06
8381 - unvernted: 7/18/06
This it exactly the same thing they did with the MSD cap/rotor about a year and a half ago... it was in the online catalog for more than a year before anyone was able to actually buy one.

Re: Ignition Coils?
Trust me... your LT1 has only one coil..... unless you have done a Delteq aftermarket ignition conversion (4 dual-tower waste spark coil pack) or the LTcc aftermarket ignition conversion (8 LSx-style coils in direct fire).
Or, if you own an LSx engine, you have 8, or if you drive a V6 you have 3..... but if you have a stock style ignition on an LT1, you have one, uno coil. Count 'em..........

Note also that picture is of a 95. The 93-95 model LT1's use the "dual-connector" coil shown in Shoebox's picture. Your 96 and the 97 model LT1's use an almost identical "single connector" coil.
