If I replace a head, do i machine?

I have a head with a broken bolt in it. I pulled it, because couldn't get it in the car.

I found one local for pretty cheap. Instead of fighting extracting the bolt, can I just slap a used head on and be good?

Or do I need to get it machined?

Any head, even the one you took off your own car, should be checked for flatness, before it is installed on the block.

I know technically it should... but didn't have any issues before, and not really planning on keeping it, just getting it back on the road and away from 4th gens.
