IF the AC system is emptied, does the dryer need to be replaced?

We just disconnected the lines and plugged everything up when we pulled my motor. Someone told me I have to replace the dryer now, is this true?

Anything else I need to do before filling it?

Don't know about the dryer, but since the system was open you'll need to pull a vacuum on it before charging.

I yanked the motor out for 3 months with the ac system open. I replaced the compressor for leaky condition, but not doing the dryer. Not really necissary. I work for a GM dealership, all the techs told me not to waste my money.. hope it helps.

if you capped the lines, don't worry about it, put it all back together and get it vacuumed and recharged

Moisture got in there no matter how quickly you capped it. You may not need it immediately, but it could shorten the life.

You do need to replace the orfice tube filter while it is apart and pull a vaccum on it.

He's got an expansion valve not an orifice tube.
