How to spin tires while moving?

Some guy pulled up on the side of me a few days ago and we were going about 50 and he spun his tires a ton while he was driving, i heard the screeching and then he flew away from me and turned.

I was wondering how to spin your tires while moving. I can't figure it out. I can spin my tires while sitting still but i don't do it ofter (Tryin to keep the tires intact). I was wondering if it is possible to even do it on an automatic or does it require that you slip your clutch with a manual?

Im just asking because i thought it looked really cool. Or could it have been that he had crappy tires and just didn't have any traction at all.

to spin em at 50 mph, you have to have a lot of HP/TQ

if your car is stock, no...

you need a lot of mods to be able to do it well... (not just a CHIRP!)

or just tweak your suspension so you have hardly any traction at all times

I'd also like to point out... Being able to spin your tires at 50mph isn't a good thing... Sure, there's a *HUGE* wow factor.. but, it's not doing you any good... If you have 500hp, but you can't get any traction, then it's just going to waste, and not helping you much... like that Lingenfelter (however you spell it) corvette.. It was some insane number like, atleast 700hp or something? It only ran something like 12's or 13's because it just couldn't get any traction...

something like that.

Go out in the rain and punch it at ~50 mph and you'll probably spin your tires a lot!! You may also spin out at the same time. Be careful.

Re: How to spin tires while moving?

I can punch it at 20-25 or so and the tranny will downshift to first and I will get some wheelspin, enough to lay two faint lines. When I had my old tires that didn't hook(never hooked even when they were new) I could do that and lay two fat black marks and get some nice smoke going on too It would continue to spin all the way up to 65 or so. From a stop with my old tires I could lay rubber all the way down my block.
I could get the tires to spin a little at 50 with my old tires, but no massive burnout, cloud of smoke type of thing.

mith my old rims and tires i could spin them at about 35 if i punched it ..... nothing major though just a puff of smoke and a little rubber

still cool when people were following

now with the new ones i can barely break em loose shifting 2nd... but thats a good thing

that wasn't the lingenfelter vette, that was a road racing vette put on the track for fun. it was built by LGMotorsports, but most places the movie is titled as a lingenfelter. they were able to run the 750 hp 427 TT lingenfelter package to 9.5 on "street tires."

and no you won't probably ever be able to spin your tires going 50 mph. maybe the guy just didn't feel like wasting it ET streets or slicks on the highway and was just running some crappy street tires, i know quite a few people that do that.

Re: How to spin tires while moving?

1. engage clutch
2. rev engine to ~4500rpm
3. move shifter to first gear
4. drop clutch
5. floor gas

edit: not recommended for those who like their clutch in one piece

The clutch is the last of your problems in that situation....
