How to remove flare nut without rounding.
I figured out a trick for removing stuck flare nuts without damaging or rounding them. I have never damaged one since using this and thought I would pass it along.
Spray a little penetrating oil on the fitting. Place the appropriate size line wrench on the fitting. Now, clamp a pair of vice grips over the end of the line wrench. Clamp it tight. This prevents the end of the line wrench from spreading open slightly which results in damage. I also found that if I hit the wrench sharply with my hand, it usually breaks lose with less chance of damage than pulling the wrench slowly.
I hope this helps somebody out. It has save my but a few times.
