How rare is this?

How rare is it to have the analog odometer in a 97 Z28? I know I've seen digital in some of the 97s, but didn't know which one was more prominent. Thanks.

Mine is digital, what do the rest of the gauges look like. Are you sure someone didn't swap in another cluster?

I remember seeing another topic like this on here a while back. I think it was the first of the 97s that have the analog ones.

The gauges look like the 97-02 gauges, just with an analog odo and tripo. If I recall correctly, the 93-96 gauges had a different layout, so it couldn't be that.

Anybody have any more info on this? The last six digits of the vin are a little over 100,000, so I don't think it would be one of the early cars produced.

***EDIT*** - Actually I take that back. The last six numbers of the VIN show 1xxxxx with the xs being the order they came off the production line. It looks like mine was one of the first 2700 off the line! Woohoo for me.

So does anybody know when they switched to digital and how many cars were produced with analog? I'd be very interested to know.

Don't know when they switched. Mine is VIN ****3768 a mid 96 build, i.e. early 97. I also have the mech. odo.

Okay, I know I have waaaaaaay too much time on my hands right now, but I've been looking through autotrader, and it seems to have switched sometime between car 4289 and 8971. Car 4289 had a mechanical odo and 8971 had a digital. Man, I'm going crazy with all this time off!
