how to pop off door panals without breaking anything?
how to pop off door panals without breaking anything?
I would like to open up the door panals and WD-40 my window motor parts, they are still strong, but SLOW so hope to prolong their life, especially with winter coming up.
I'm just worried about breaking clips and poping things, I think I rember busting something last time I tried this on a car, any advice?

Just TAKE YOUR TIME and make sure you got every possible screw out of there before trying to take the pad off.
The pwr window switch besel might not be as tight fitting after you put it back together, they're pretty crappy. Make sure you remove the lock sliding button off the rod (manual locking). This will make removing the door pad easier. Once everything is off, the door pad needs to go up to unhook the bottom brackets. It's all pretty easy and straightforward. Putting it back is always harder than taking it off!
Also I wouldn't use wd40 to clean it all up. Just make sure the tracks are well lubed with lithium grease.
Make sure you put the plastic back on your doors the exact same way and reapply adhesive if necessary. You don't want water in your car after a downpour.
I probably missed a bunch of stuff but I hope this helped.

Our door panels arent like the older models, we have no clips holding them on just hooks. Once you take all screws out and switches off, the panel just lifts upward off the hooks.

I wouldn't suggest using WD40 in the window tracks either... It will wear off pretty quickly... You need something that will keep the rollers lubed... I just greased both my windows today... I put moly grease in both tracks on each window using a small paint brush and I also put some grease inside the edge of the triangle pieces where the front of the window slides up into it... Both work pretty smooth now... I used the spray lithium grease a couple months ago and after pulling the door panel off, I could see where it had kinda settled and didn't hold up like a heavy type grease would.. That's why I chose to use moly grease this time... But who knows, it may do the same.

The beginning of my window motor guide shows how to remove the panel.
