How much oil

Dumb question I know

Dont have an owners manual

Got a 95 Z28 LT1...how many quarts of oil does it take for an oil change.

Not sure on a LT1 - but you can get an owners manual or look it up at http://shbox.com/pdf/manuals.html

I used to put 5qts in my '96. Although I've read that some people only needed as little as 4.5qts to show full on the dipstick...and IIRC, the owners manual said 4.5qts.

4.5 qts on the short(stock, AC=PF454, Fram=PH30) filter, 5 qts on the long filter(AC=PF1218, Fram=PH5)

uh maybe I've been using too much oil, I use 5.5qts on the PF1218 filter. only .5 quarts over anyway

yea me too, it reads full with 5.5 quarts, and below the full mark with less than that

If you were using 5 qts with the small filter, 5.5 qts would be right with the long filter.

agreed, there will be sligth differeces w & w/o oil cooler as well, so, w/ oil cooler, w/ long filter might be 5.5, ect.

manual says 5.5 quarts for an LT1..... ur gonna have to buy six quarts.... go with royal purple or mobile 1 synthetic.... best oils on the market.... i run royal purple

The manual does not say that. I researched this long ago. I have no idea why any of them would be any different.

This is with filter change if the manual mentions it.

Just fill it to the full mark on your particular dipstick.
