Question about burnouts and brakes.

So i was just wonderin

I have a 95 Z28 M6 and 4 wheel disc brakes

I dont really know how the brakes work, but

When your doin a burnout, you rev it up and let off the clutch, then jump on the brakes...

I know the front brakes are engaging, but are the rears? and is it wearing them down to nothing by doing this?

Yep, it's wearing the rears.

Re: Question about burnouts and brakes.

The brake pads are always in contact with the rotors no matter what. When you're doing a burnout, they're definitely clamping down harder. Doing a smoky one here and there won't have you running to the store for new pads, but don't make a habit of it. (The brakes are the least of your worries if you're burning out a whole bunch.)

Re: Question about burnouts and brakes.

If your worried about wearing your rear brakes out while doing a burnout, you should get a line lock so only your front brakes work when you engage it.

You can always get a line lock for a hundred bucks or so.

Edit: LOL LT1 POWR beat me to it!
