it just depends.
My camaro ran freakishly fast for an LT1 and ran 13.76

Others have LT1's run mid 14's

LS1's can run anywhere from high 13's, to high 12's.

average though, i'd say about 1/2 a second?

Not to thread jack or anything but i have been curious about the performance of a LT-4 model Camaro SS with 330 h.p./ 340 lb-ft tq vs the LS-1 SS with 325 h.p./ 345 lb-ft tq .

"Not to thread jack"

LOL

Post a new thread.......this is how threads get all messed up.

To OP:

LS1's are a little more advanced than LT1's.

Ive seen LS1 cars hit 12s with a freakin intake lid. So Id say they are faster, but whatever floats your boat.

LT4's are known to often edge out early LS1's. 2000 and later LS1's are more equal competition for an LT4.

Normally about a car length. The LT1 is quicker off the line, but the LS1 pics it up and the end(Quarter mile). The LT1 has tremendous hp and torque at the beginning, but levels off down the line. The LS1 shines at the end.The LT1(with a few mods, can fix this.Also,LT1 modes a cheaper I think than LS1.Beer time, gotta go.

On average, a full second and 5mph faster in the quarter mile.

A car length? You're dreaming, or you're racing crappy LS1 drivers.

Check out this thread -- you can get an '02 LS1 for under $7000 if you work at it.

Stock for stock, this is what I've seen at the dragstrip, and represents good-running stockers.

305 third-gen cars: Mid-15's
350 third-gen cars: high 14's
LT1 fourth-gen cars: 14-flat, high-13's
LS1 fourth-gen cars: high 13's to 13.2

..as for dollar-per-horsepower, the LS1 probably has everything else beat when it comes to it's response to mods.

ls cars 12.80's - 13.70's @110-103
lt cars 13.40's - 14.20's@105-97

The ls1 cars are faster, hands down.

Good use of "advertised" numbers for the LS1 .

Mine dyno'd 317HP/335Tq at the WHEELS!! And mine was a "lowly" Z28, rated at a mere "310 HP" .

The LS1's in F-bodies made pretty much the same ~345 - 350 HP as they did in the Corvettes .

Sure, LT1 cars are/can be quick. But stock-for-stock, "average-for-average", the LS1's are typically at least ~1/2 second or more faster in the 1/4 mile.

Someday, maybe video proof (I'll find and post it later... can't access any video streaming sites from work) will be enough to dispell this myth.

In the Corvette, those are the ratings, and they're relatively accurate. The realistic power output of the stock LS1 in the F-bodies (which used a more restrictive air intake and a Y-pipe exhaust instead of a true dual like the Corvette) is ~340 horsepower and ~365 lb-ft.
