How much does a 68 camaro convertible go for
Re: How much does a 68 camaro convertible go for
Not sure on the convertible price, but I can say that I am not aware of anyone offering Crate 327's.....not sure if anyone is even making those cranks still....almost everyone builds 350, 383, 406, and 427+CID small blocks nowadays.
This may be hard to find as a new assembly, but you should fairly easily be able to find a rebuildable 327 core motor if that is what you really want.
Why one would not go with a larger CID motor in something that is basically a toy is beyond me. Build a 383 and leave the 327 badges on the car. You will be happier with the torque characteristics and will not have to spin it to the moon to get good power.

It still would not be original (it would be the SAME engine size, which is the factory hum-drum displacement)
Unless the 327 matches the numbers of the car, it adds ZERO to the overall value of the car, and car value would probably be actually LESS than if something decent along the lines of a 383, 396, 406 or 427+ CID small block were put in it.
Convince the owner that it is NOT ORIGINAL unless it has the numbers matching 327.
With all the advantages of increasing CID for a toy, this owner is being non-sensical.
Gee do I want a 327 with 375HP at an ungodly for the street 7000rpm or a 383 with 375HP at a streetable 5,600 RPM ?
What a decision.
The term LUNKHEAD is coming to mind.....

If this is the case I will give him $200 for the Camaro and he take that and get a Civic.

Enough. If you don't think he's serious, don't respond. You are only encouraging him.
If he becomes a problem, we will deal with it.
