How much abuse can one of these things take till it BRAKES?
I just bought a 1994 Z28 with the 6-Speed Manuel, Limeted slip difrental, and Z-raited tires/ 150MPH speedometer. It is completly stock except for the K&N Intake system & Accel 300+ spark plug wires. I plan on keeping it stock because it is my daily driver but I bought it for the performance of it. I use to race stock cars and I can drive the wheels off any typ of car. Every where I go people ask me to do a Burn Out! I usely give them a little show! LOL! I am scared I mite brake the drive train. So how hard can people drive one of these things before it brakes? It has 80000 miles on it & runs like new. I want to keep it runing like new but I have allready ruined the rear tires. LOL!
your walking on very thin ice... Its a matter of when, not if. Especially with all yours "shows" I blew out the diff in my first car at 60k. The first 50k was pampered cruising miles. It was mostly stock. It later went out again. They ARE weak.
With street tires, you shouldn't have a problem. The M6 cars will BREAK things, like the weak 10-bolt rear axle, with sticky tires, on the track, and high RPM clutch dumps, but a stock car with 6-speed manual should be OK on street tires.
Well I want to thank every one for their help sofar. I belive all the comments made good sence.
I would like to let you all know that I usely have the car rolling forwared with the cluch completly engaged before I stand on the gas in first gear. Then I shift quickly to 2nd gear. This is how I usely take off when given people rides. I never rev the engine up & dump the cluch from a dead stop.
I figure by not dumping the cluch I am protecting the drive train some. I do have completly stock tires to.
