How do I put coolant?

Well I know my car needs coolant but is there a special mixture or instructions on how to go about doing it? I have a 98 Camaro and on air lid it says read instuction manual but I don't have one. Any tips??? Thanks!!

Re: How do I put coolant?

Buy the Prestone "Dex-Cool Approved" Quick Fill gallon and just add it into your reservoir until the fill level is at the hot or cold level (depending on if your car is hot or cold).

This gallon you're buying is already a 50/50 mixture, so just pour it right in.

When mixing coolant it all depends on the weather condition. But like SFB767 said, they already have 50/50 mix coolant from many brand company to make it easy on you. But make sure you use the right color coolant (orange or green) for your car.

Cool. Thanks. Next stop Autozone. I know it is green because I have a leak somewhere that I am going to find hopefully.

If you have a '98, it should be orange.

Odd. I checked the big pool of coolant on the floor and I could of swore that it was green. Unless I am thinking wrong. Smelt like coolant and everything. Plus the engine was overheating cause of the puddle. What is the difference??

Re: How do I put coolant?

if its a 98, should be orange, the previous guy could have flushed it and put in the green stuff, assuming that you're not the 1st owner. anyway, if ur radiator is low on coolant, open the radiator cap (when the engine is cold) and add coolant in there. a 50/50 mix of coolant and water would do.
