Question How to delete Air Pump?

Can someone tell me how, if its possible, to delete the air pump system, I really never wanted to use it anyway but didnt have the patience to remove it before. Do you have to get the computer done so it wont throw code. What +/- are there to getting rid of it?

Thanks

I know you might need a Smog Pump Delete Pulley from GMPartsDirect.com

Other than that,I dont know much about it but would also like to know. What to do with the vacumm lines that go in to the manifold after you take it out?

Is cat still needed? (More power potential there)

naw, our air pump's are electric.
There will just be the hose that comes from your air intake (pre-maf), and the one that runs into the exhaust manifolds.

You can get the plugs to block off the bungs on your longtubes, or have them welded closed. Plug or block the one in the CAI. I'm not sure if it will throw a code or not, but I think it will.

Yep, I just pulled mine off, removed all of the lines including the aluminum tube and trashed it. It really cleans things up.

I believe it is to put some oxygen into the exiting fumes to make the cats work better, lessening emissions.

It's 7lbs straight off the front of your car too when you take it off

In the 93-95 codes, you can simply pull the plug off the AIR pump, and as long as there is a good fuse in the circuit, you will not get a code or an SES light. In the 96/97's you have to have the entire system "programmed out" to avoid an SES light.

Wait a second, what do you mean everything is "electric"?
The AIR pump in the 93 and up models is run by an electric motor, not by a belt. So, you don't need a "smog pump delete pulley."

I believe it is to put some oxygen into the exiting fumes to make the cats work better, lessening emissions.
On the LT1 cars, it only runs for a few minutes at startup to help warm the cats up to operating temperature faster.

awesome, so other than that i can pull that ******** thing off?
Do the moderators a favor, and do not test the language filter.
