Hood won't stay open

I'm assuming its a bad hydraulic mechanism (or 2) that prevents the hood from staying open. How easy is it to replace the hydraulics? Could anything else be to blaim for this?

Replace the lift supports. You pry off the metal clips and remove the support from the ball stud. Use something or someone to hold your hood up.

Not really an "engine tech" question.
