hey guys, looking to start the weight reductions since im looking for 10's next year. any idea on what a stock lt1 hood off a 95 trans am weighs?? secondly, what does an aftermarket ramair hood approximatly weigh if made of fiberglass? possibly the 98-02 predator style?? the aftermarket hood weight doesnt worry me so much to find out because the company will know, but stock ...any one have an idea?

There are many weights mentioned on Brent Franker's website.

 

I vaguely recall a discussion a few years ago about the weight savings of a steel oem Z hood compared to the oem SS hood on 96-97s. The SS hood was only about 5lbs, or so, less. I don't recall the exact weight difference, but it wasn't significant.

 

The weighed difference in the body shop of my glass ss hood to my stock Z hood, no brackets etc on either hood was 9 lbs.

My stock 94 Formula hood weighed 38#. I never weighed the SLP replacement.

A stock hood weighs around 44 lbs. Most bolt on fiberglass hoods from what I have heard weigh in the low 20 lbs area.

I think my VFN bolt on weighs 22 lbs.
