Hood Latch

Not sure where to post this so I will post it here since this is the busiest spot on the site. My hood latch used to work fine and it still does but for some reason the spring is extremely tight in it now. I had a fender bender 2 years ago and had to switch back to my stock hood. I took the latch off today to take a look at it and see if there is a way to adjust it, but I am not seeing anything. I do not believe that there is a way to change this without some special modifications. Does anyone know how or if there is a way to adjust this?

I am talking about the spring that keeps pressure against the hood and makes it pop up when you pull the hood latch, the long compressions spring, not the torsion spring. I am thinking about just getting another latch at a junkyard or on here through someone parting out a car but I don't want to run into the same problem w/ another one.

my hood doesn't pop up automatically any more either... some young buck backed his suburban into the hood last October. I put a new hood and front bumper cover on it, and tugged and pulled etc... latch holds the hood OK, but I've got to pull it up after pulling "release" inside.

Just a minor alignment issue... I just deal w/ it now.

Oh, mine definitely pops up alright, it would launch the thing off the car if it wasn't bolted to it, that is what my problem is. The spring is WAY too stiff and I have to slam the sh*t outta the hood to get it to shut!

Posting on "the busiest spot" doesn't make it the correct forum. "Hood latch" isn't really "engine" tech.

Have you checked the height of the adjustable bumpers?

yes, they are fine, it is definitely the spring in the latch that is the problem.
