Question holes in exhaust...

my friend whos getting a catback sometime this week decided to see what it would sound like if we drilled 4 holes on each side of his exhaust pipe right before the muffler. We did it and it sounded awesome. My question is can this mess up anything? It doesnt seem like it can and it sounds awesome so i was just seeing if it was alright to do this or not. If not, hes getting a new exhaust system tommorow so it doesnt really matter.

It doesnt hurt anything. Its just like having an exhaust leak.

I'd suggest your friend install a cutout while he's doing the exhaust. That way he'll have options on sound and performance levels. You could always drills some holes in the cutout cover plate for added sound and just replace the plate later if too many cops are chasing you around!
