Highbeam switch broken?

I cannot get my highbeams to turn on. There is no "click" when I pull back on the lever. I bought another stalk off a forum member who also had a steering column laying around. The new stalk did not fix the problem. On the spare column we saw a rod assembly that goes from the stalk down to this white box on the column. Apparentyl this is what turns on the headlights and makes the little "click". Can someone give me a pn for this and is there a how-to floating around on how to fix it?

Thanks

Is it for the '96 Z???????? If so, you can pick up a dimmer switch for 10 dollars at a locla parts store.... Mounts on column...

You can find reference to the switch in my ignition switch R&R on my Tech Page. Might just be loose.

Thanks shoebox. So the part I need to fix is called the "dimmer switch" that's located on the column? Have a pn for it? Do I have to take the entire column out or would I be able to lower it and replace it in the car?

As far as it being loose are you referring to the bolts that are holding it in? When we were examining the spare column if we pressed down on the cables and area just forward of the stalk, the switch would work. When we did this to mine, it wouldn't.

yes, themounting holes are slotted(for adjustment(), so loose screws will make it not work

you need to lower the column to get to it
