The “CamaroZ28.com Podcast” forum is not the place for questions like this.... that's why it says “PLEASE do not post here”. Let's move this to “General 67-02 F-Body Tech” where there’s more traffic.

Re: Hendrick 97 SS

I believe the VIN is assigned at factory before the car is built and the Hendricks modifications were done after leaving the factory. I don't know if they were numbered, but it's very possible they were. I've attached a pdf that shows how to decipher the VIN tag from the 1996 Service Manual with a notation added to give the code for a 1997 model. Have you searching the site for information on the number of the car?

Re: Hendrick 97 SS

This would indicate the Hendrick cars were sequentially numbered by Hendrick. Actually it indicates the 1997 Hendrick cars were built by SLP. GMMG May have built the later editions.

Re: Hendrick 97 SS

I didn't read the whole post Fred linked, but the Hendrick cars were all made by SLP. There were 61 SS cars, which were all silver/black stripes. Have seen some variations with black side mirrors/top and a side stripe on the lower half of the doors. When I bought mine, SLP had already purged their database of the information, and was only able to validate that I had a legitimate SS.

On top of the 61 SS cars, they produced an additional 9 which were white with hugger orange strips. These were made with the LT4 engine, and were also branded.

Small world, I knew a friend of the guy who wreaked his, which net me a steal on mint floor mats (mine were pretty beat up).

Great find, real or not.

That is cool, I actually bought the car cover from the wreak too. Did you get the key fobs or the note in the glove box?
