Help me with making a battery relocation kit
Help me with making a battery relocation kit
Here's the deal, I had a two and four channel amp in my car before, and the next time it's on the road those won't be in there. So I have a length of 4 gauge wire that is suitable for running from the back of the car that I want to use for a battery relocation set up.
Here's what I'm thinking so far-
Run 4 gauge directly from the battery that I relocated in the back, directly to the starter. Then I'll use the starter where I've connected the 4 gauge wire as my distribution point. I will connect the alternator to that point with some 8 gauge, and run another length of 8 gauge to the factory power distribution block on the passenger side fender.
Thoughts on this setup? Any better ways of doing it?

Re: Help me with making a battery relocation kit
#4 wire is small for that. I would run at least a #0. That is what I use and have had no battery or cranking problems.
These customers come with the #4 wire and say it won't crank and the bat seems weak all the time so that is what I have settled on.The #4 you are talking about is the size of your little finger, right.

The 4 gauge is bigger than my little finger, probably just a bit bigger than my thumb. I wish I could remember the current and amp carrying specs on the wire, I used to know them.

Big welding cable is 000 which is about thumb size, which is way bigger than 0. Then 1-2-3-4 going smaller in size.
#4 is about 7/16" dia and 0 is about 5/8" dia. 000 is 7/8-15/16" in dia.
