help

i bought a 74 z28. it has a 396 big block. i really dont know **** about old cars. if anyone has any facts, technical info whatever. anything and everything is appreciated. thanks for your help.

The 396 was not installed stock in the 1974's (1972 was the last year for the 396), so what you have is an engine transplant, limiting how much anyone can tell you about it. If you could get the VIN number derivative off the block, or some casting numbers off the block, intake, heads, etc it might help identify the engine, and what it came out of originally. As far as specs on the car itself, there is info in the "Camaro White Book" regarding VIN's, dimensions, engine suffixes, options, RPO codes, production numbers, etc.
